Peking University Belt & Road Institute cordially invites you to join us this Friday, for the next lecture in our “Understanding China and the Belt & Road” Lecture Series to be given by NING Jizhe, Vice Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and Commissioner of the National Bureau of Statistics. The upcoming lecture will provide a rare opportunity to hear broader context about the Belt & Road Initiative from a key government leader tasked with its implementation.

Note: Priority will be given to Peking University students. Students of other universities are also welcome to register, but confirmations will be sent depending on space. All attendees will be required to show their student IDs at the door.
About the Speaker: Ning Jizhe
China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) serves to formulate and implement strategies of national economic and social development in China, monitor macroeconomic and social development trends, and coordinate the restructuring of China’s economic system, among other functions, on behalf of the State Council. The NDRC is also the lead government agency charged with implementing the Belt & Road Initiative. As Vice Chairman of the NDRC, Dr. NING oversees the Department of International Cooperation, is directly responsible for the implementation of the Belt & Road Initiative, and is part of the team engaged in U.S. trade talks, among other duties. He also holds an appointment serving as the Commissioner of the National Bureau of Statistics. Dr. NING earned his Ph.D. in Economics.

Understanding China and the Belt & Road
Peking University announced its new Belt and Road Institute in April 20, 2018. The Institute, rooted in Guanghua School of Management, will provide educational opportunities to future leaders for the new type of globalization, conduct research relevant to BRI projects, and serve as a platform for people-to-people exchange. Over the 2018-19 academic year, the Belt & Road Institute will be organizing a series of lectures entitled “Understanding China and the Belt & Road” for local and international scholars alike. The “Understanding China and the Belt & Road” Lecture Series serves as a forum for leaders in academia, government, and industry to provide high-level analysis on China’s development and both the opportunities and challenges created by Belt & Road Initiative.
