Peking University Belt and Road Institute
to further the Belt and Road Initiative's efforts to promote human progress
to drive inclusive economic growth
to create win-win solutions to global challenges
Since China's President Xi Jinping first proposed the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) in 2013, projects associated with the Initiative have already begun to strengthen global trade and create new ways to achieve sustainable and balanced global growth. The BRI is attracting participation from an increasingly large number of countries and is providing practical benefits across the globe. With China highlighting the BRI in its national long-term development blueprint, the benefits generated by the Initiative can only be expected to increase.
As the BRI enters its fifth year, Peking University has announced the creation of the Belt and Road Institute through its Guanghua School of Management to further the BRI's efforts to promote human progress, drive inclusive economic growth, and create win-win solutions to global challenges. The founding of the Institute also coincides with Peking University's 120th anniversary and the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening-up.

Belt and Road Institute Goals
The Institute will bring scholars, students, and other thought-leaders together to conduct research on economic and business issues facing economies at different levels of development; support projects that provide practical solutions to these problems; and educate a new generation of leaders equipped to navigate the complexities of today's world to promote a shared future for humankind. Recognizing the integral role that government and business leaders play in this process, the Institute will also actively engage with government and business leaders to generate comprehensive solutions that meet the needs of multiple stakeholder groups.
